Welcome to our house!
Our guest house is an old school, built in 1920 on the banks of the Doubs in Switzerland.
Located in the small hamlet of La Maison-Monsieur, in the heart of the Regional Natural Park of Doubs, it welcomes you in an absolutely unique environment, of extraordinary poetry.

The guest house
nenufar
The word comes from the ancient Persian “nilufar”, which meant a water lily of a dark blue green, symbol of purity and beauty. Just like the flower of Nenufar, which must first go through the mud before reaching the surface of the water, we must learn to go through the night before reaching the day …
It is because of this symbol that we chose the name and spelling.
On the river in front of the house, you will find the luphar lutea, whose yellow flowers bloom in the morning and close in the evening for 5 days.

140 square metres of living space on 3 levels, luxuriously renovated and decorated, with an absolutely unique charm!
Accommodation capacity: 4 people + possibly 1 extra bed for a 5th person – by choice, no more, to be able to enjoy the space.

GROUND FLOOR:
The large hall, which used to welcome no less than 30 students every morning, welcomes you with its old school desk and library of books focusing on our region (walks, wildlife and flora, the Doubs, the region and a selection on Neuchâtel art).
You will also find a cloakroom and a wardrobe, a washing machine and a toilet with a washbasin.
The old classroom has become a large 50-square-metre living room with panoramic views of the river. Two very large sofas allow you to relax, read, dream … by the fire if the evenings are cool. An upright piano, a desk and small table to work on and/or draw on in peace and quiet. Easels are available.
UPSTAIRS:
If you climb the granite staircase, you will find the open, modern and fully equipped kitchen on the first floor: a vitro-ceramic cooker, an extractor hood, a convection oven, a fridge with a small freezer, a dishwasher as well as a toaster and a fondue caquelon (a special dish for fondue).
At your disposal are organic foods of choice, arranged in pretty glass jars: rice, cereals, lentils, various kinds of pasta, coffee, cocoa, a selection of twenty teas and herbal teas, chocolate, sugar, etc. There are new things to try: original spices from around the world and some local products selected for you: “Mortuacienne” lemonade, artisanal syrups, Franches-Montagnes honey, special jams, salted-butter caramel from Biaufond … and a bottle of Neuchatel red wine on the house!
A dining room with a bird’s eye view of the river waters and … the water lilies on the opposite bank! A small reading-room. A wood stove. A Japanese tatami bed, which can be used as an extra bed. An office corner, with internet access via secure wi-fi. A tablet docking station, unlimited landline for Swiss communications, a high-quality Bluetooth speaker.
A “Dragonfly” bathroom with 2 basins, Philippe Starck taps, handcrafted “home-made” mosaic, numerous shelves and storage baskets, a hair dryer and a shower with glass doors. All shower products and shampoos at your disposal are organic and of the highest quality. The dish cloths, hand towels and bath towels are provided and included in the rental price.
Real natural spring water from the taps! – we appreciate your help in not wasting it.
The spiral art deco staircase takes you to your mezzanine “nests”, equipped with quality bedding: solid wood beds, mattresses and happy bedsprings, sheets and bedding of linen or organic cotton satin. One bedroom with king size bed (1m80 wide), another right next door with 2 twin beds that can form one large bed. A cupboard with hangers, a lot of shelves and storage baskets.
The sheets, duvets and pillows for the beds are included in the rental price and are changed once a week.
